"Antioquia hails from the San Francisco Bay area but started in Ecuadorrnwhen two North Americans met on a bus to Colombia. They traveled together tornthe department (State) of Antioquia, found a house in the hills, and beganrnplaying music. After many adventures and a trip to Vancouver Craig Millerrn(drums) and Adley Penner (guitar) relocated to San Francisco where theyrnfound bassist Paul Martin and singer/percussionist Maddy Striecek.rnrn
Antioquia creates its “unique sound by drawing tropical funk grooves andrnpulsing tribal rhythms from Cuba, Brazil, West Africa and Colombia” (BrianrnEchon West Coast Performer). “With a willfully eclectic sensibility,rnAntioquia prides itself on lively experimentation that never forgets therndance floor. It’s hard not to get up and move to the bands infectious music”rn(Paul Davis, Metro Santa Cruz).rnrn
In addition to playing music, Antioquia has joined revolutionariesrnworldwide by launching their Save the Dinosaurs Project in which it willrngradually wean its music off fossil fuels by utilizing waste veggie oil andrnbicycle pedal power (for more information see www.postpeakoilrock.com)."rnrn
